
The Viacom International Media Networks company has begun negotiations to launch in Russia American entertainment channel "Comedy Central". This writes "Kommersant". As reported in the publication of MTS and "AKADO" who offering pay-TV broadcasting, the Viacom company had consultations with them about the launch of the TV channel. The talks will start after Viacom will receive a license to broadcast. According to the company, the Comedy Central TV channel could be launched before April.
The cable channel "Comedy Central" is the part of the Viacom holding, it was launched in the U.S. in 1989 (under the title The Comedy Channel). Channel shows entertainment programs, such as purchased and its own production. These include the series "South Park", "Futurama", "Ugly Americans" and "Workaholics." In 2011, Comedy Central has become the most popular entertainment TV channel in the U.S. (excluding sports) among men from 18 to 34 years old.
Since 2006, the channel began broadcasting in other countries including Germany, India, Israel, Britain, Poland and Spain. Since 2012 the Viacom company plans to launch the channel in Asia.
